Stuck in drugs, double bass player Spoon and keyboard man Stretch get scared into going straight in Gridlock’d after singer Cookie overdoses. Curtis Hall also scribed two songs, including the movie’s theme-in-a-nutshell, “Life is a Traffic Jam.” Tupac wrote two tunes for the soundtrack album, performing one. Stretch and Spoon slouch into withdrawal backed by Gridlock’d’s cool jazz and trip-hop soundtrack. The press just didn’t have the opportunity to know the whole man.” I can’t say the press gave him a bum rap.
“Pac may have had the veneer because he was playing the role, the gangster. “Now I’m not saying the hardcore guy didn’t exist,” Curtis Hall added. So what about Shakur’s public image – the nasty gangsta dude? Tupac was always joking ‘I taught Tim everything he knows, he’s watching me, he’s learning from me’ – but really he admired Tim.”

"Wanted Dead or Alive" was 16th in the UK and was accompanied by a music video with Snoop alone as it was filmed after the death of 2Pac, so he is only present in archive footages from the motion picture. "It's Over Now" was 46th on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, which was Danny Boy's second chart single. This is both the second to last Death Row Soundtrack Album and second to last Death Row album to be distributed by Interscope, as later in the year they would drop Death Row from their label. "Lady Heroin" was originally going to be on Sam Sneed's unreleased album Street Scholars. The track "Out the Moon (Boom, Boom, Boom)" was originally recorded for the LBC Crew debut album Haven't You Heard?
